For Weeks 5 and 6, I concentrated on portraiture with the Samsung Galaxy, playing with the Beauty Face mode. In this mode, the camera automatically smoothes out the skin to reduce any blemishes. It seeks out the flesh tones in the image and then applies a softening filter to the areas. Generally, it looks good. Personally, I prefer to do all my retouching in Photoshop, but you can see the effect of the camera’s retouching in the images below.
In the first set of images, I photographed Hollie, one of our studio photographers, in locations near our studio. I tried to mimic the kind of photos that a non-pro might snap with the camera – just casual images with a mix of close ups and wide shots.
For week 6, I took the camera with me on a professional model shoot I did for The Wedding Sanctuary. My assistant and I took turns taking some images with the Samsung Galaxy.
You can really see the effect of the Beauty Face Mode on the images. There is no other post-processing done on these images.
