It might be back to school but it’s also a great time to get back to you with a personal branding session
This September we’re encouraging you to step into the studio for some assistance in personal branding. The summer is drawing to a close and perhaps you caught a few rays of sunshine over the past two months, in any case, it’s the perfect time to come in and have some updated photos taken to help you in whichever direction you are going in professionally.
A crucial part in ‘creating your brand’ is to certainly have the proper photos to market yourself and your career. We recently had successful violinist, Charis Jenson, into the studio to refresh her image and have some fun in the process.
Having graduated from the Royal College of Music with Firsts in her Bachelors and Masters of Music and Artist Diploma, Charis is now in demand as a freelance violinist throughout the UK and the rest of Europe. Studying with Yossi Zivoni and Maciej Rakowski, numerous prizes while at the RCM included two Musician Benevolent Fund Awards, Countess of Munster Musical Trust Award and the Helen Just and Susan Connell Prize for Chamber Music twice.
She now plays as a core member of the John Wilson Orchestra, guesting Principal 2nd and Co-Principal 2nd. Recent projects include both Brahms Sextets at the Rottweil Sommersprossen Festival, invitations to play Guest No. 2 with the RTE Concert Orchestra in Dublin, and a sold out performance of Brahms Double Concerto with sister Kirsten Jenson at St George’s Brandon Hill, Bristol. Among forthcoming performances, Charis has concerts with Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt, and piano trio recitals in Mainz with Uwe Zeutzheim.
Charis plays a Hendrik Jacobs from the 1680s, owned by Dr Michael and Jutta Wilson and kindly on loan from the Beares International Violin Society.
Before these sessions it will be important for us to be able to speak with you about what it is that you do and the feel you want the portraits to have. For Charis, she was interested in having images that would be suitable for a musical program but also a handful of casual, relaxed shots that would be perfect for her personal website. As with any kind of photo shoot, the more thought that is put into it, the better the outcome.
I was looking to have professional photos taken for various reasons. As a freelance musician, I need to be accessible online to members of the public and employers so these images will be great for my new website. Along with using them for personal branding, I will be able to send to promoters for concert programmes and publicity etc.
As many of our clients are not completely accustomed to being photographed, it’s essential that we create a relaxed environment for anyone coming into the studio.
Veruschka was very patient, friendly and enthusiastic, and had some brilliant tips for how to stand and use my hands. I also really appreciated that she had taken the time beforehand to research the angle we were going for, and came with lots of different ideas for us to use as inspiration.
Along with the studio shots, it was great to step outside to get some really natural and casual shots with the variety of settings surrounding the Wimbledon studio in Merton Abbey Mills.
We know that having a bit of time in the studio is not everyone’s idea of an hour well spent, but we can assure you that iPhone photos taken at the family picnic and/ or at a cousin’s wedding are not acceptable for your professional image – Linkedin included!
Get in touch to book in your session and take advantage of our autumn personal branding offer of a 1hour shoot at our Wimbledon studio (we have some lovely outdoor spaces too) as well as five retouched digital images for £595.
