Everything was in bloom for this very special location pregnancy shoot
After two studio based maternity sessions with Julia, Nathalie and her family decided to do something a little bit different, a location pregnancy shoot for baby number three. Julia and her team sourced the perfect spot filled with greenery and various shooting spaces to make for a memorable photo shoot to celebrate the family growing by one.
With the boys at somewhat ‘tricky’ ages for photo shoots, we made the session fun and we were sure to keep the children involved. Props like dinosaurs and bug catcher outfits seemed to do just that as well as make for fabulous portraits. This shoot became about the family as a whole and welcoming their new addition (a girl!) instead of every shot focused on the bump. This location pregnancy shoot allowed for Julia to tell a story with her images using various backgrounds and settings while having the shots work together through styling and using a specific colour palette.
For shoots such as this, we highly recommend having a stylist on board as well as our hair and make up stylist to help with the day. Not only will you and your family look your best, but a significant amount of stress will be removed from the experience knowing that you are in good hands.
The family came prepared with a set of outfits that Julia felt would work well for each one of the looks planned. A great way to start planning a shoot and feel you would like it to take on, would be to head over to Pinterest and create a mood board for the session. Here you can pin photos you might like from the Boggio Studios website (based on pose, props, etc) as well as anything else you come across online or on Pinterest itself. Julia and the team at the studio are consistently active on Pinterest and can be added to your board and even share ideas this way as well. From here, and discussion about the shoot, we are able to gain a clear understanding of the looks you wish to achieve from your time with Julia and the direction we can take the portraits as well as location.
Capturing those first moments
Welcoming your first (or second, or third!) child can be a busy, sometimes hectic time for families. There are so many moments within the first year that deserved to be captured and documented but might be put on the back burner due to the chaos. We have partnered with the wonderful team at The Kensington Wing, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, to help families get organised and guide them through that busy year of firsts. Like Nathalie and so many of our beautiful mums, they have welcomed their little ones into the world with the expert care of The Kensington Wing. We’re so proud to be able to capture these precious moments for these same families.
Although we consider pregnancy and newborn shoots so very important to have, we adore the special moments that will follow in the months to come. A 3-5 month shoot when baby is enjoying tummy time, a 6-8 month shoot when baby is sitting up, laughing and is becoming very expressive and then a first birthday shoot to celebrate turning a whole year old. You can read more about these milestone shoots here.
If you are currently expecting and are hoping to organise a location pregnancy shoot with Julia and/ or a newborn session when your little one arrives, be sure to get in touch as soon as possible. Maternity shoots take place between 32-36 weeks of your pregnancy (earlier for mums expecting twins!) and newborn shoots will be ideally shot within your little one’s first 10 days. We always recommend booking in advance for shoots to avoid disappointment!
We look forward to hearing from you and planning your perfect pregnancy session.
