Siblings joining a newborn photo shoot allow for stunning family portraits
As our clients’ families continue to grow over the years, we have had more and more newborn shoots with the addition of siblings in and out of the studio. Along with our new mums and dads welcoming baby number one, we have many parents organising shoots for baby number two, three and four!
Newborn sessions are certainly focused on your new arrival but we also see it as a perfect opportunity to capture the family as a whole. Families welcoming a newborn often have their hands very full during the first few months and these family shots (as well as precious sibling shots) are sometimes forgotten. You may have been looking to organise a family shoot anyways, so it’s often perfect timing.
After visiting Iliyana and her family at their home for the birth of their daughter, we decided having a studio feel to the shoot would offer some wonderful opportunities for portraits of the baby as well as their two older children. Using muted colours and minimal toys & props, we created classic portraits that focus on expression and capturing the moment.
Prefer a bit more colour and a few more props? No problem. If you have a look in mind for your shoot, for either your newborn or the whole family, let us know and we can help to bring it to life! Baby props and outfits are everywhere. Discussing your thoughts with the team beforehand can help create a clear idea of what you would like to have in your shoot.
Julia and our team at Boggio Studios work with clients through the booking process to get to know just what it is you are looking for from the shoot. Through consultations and using our portfolio as well as tools like Pinterest, we are able to create a shoot plan for families so we are sure to capture everything.
WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY NEWBORN PHOTO SHOOT?
To avoid disappointment, it is a good idea to make a provisional booking based on your due date, which can be confirmed/rescheduled later if necessary. This will also give you the opportunity to ask any questions and discuss your shoot. While you can obviously never predict the exact date of arrival, it’s always better to be in contact with our team earlier rather than later. We suggest around your 20 week scan is a good time to get in touch.

We are of course always happy to answer any other questions you might have or start the planning for your very own newborn shoot (with or without siblings).
