Being a typical glorious British summer morning (that’s rainy, grey and windy to you and me), you might not expect the mums who attended the Mums on the Go Pamper & Party charity event at the Gina Conway Aveda salon in Wimbledon to be the most excited bunch of people.
Somehow though, once inside the lovely salon, drinking warm tea and scoffing delicious cupcakes, there was a real happy buzz. It was as if we had all showed up at our best friend’s house for a get together.
The amazing staff at Gina Conway had set up stations for make up, hair styling, a relaxing massage and a nail bar. Slightly rain drenched Monday morning mums emerged from the treatments looking happy and glowing, with a slight far-away-I’ve-just-had-a-massage-and-don’t-really-want-to-come-back-to-the-real-world kind of look in their eyes.
We set up a small selection of the lovely newborn art that we create at Julia Boggio Studio to show to the guests and I met some very lovely mums there. Our fabulous photographer, Marte, came along to capture the day and, gosh! Was she busy snapping away at all those cute babies.
Mandy from Bravura Image Consulting also gave a great mini-master class in colour coordination for busy mums (apparently, some colours don’t suit me? I don’t understand…).
Jane from JanePlan delivery service telling us about healthy eating/drinking habits (ehm, did you know there is almost as many calories in one gram of alcohol as there is in one gram of pure fat? Explains a lot). There were some very sweet Gina Conway baby yoga class taster sessions where the little ones got the chance to hang out and roll around whilst not really doing yoga. But it was very cute and they had a lovely time.
Delicious lunch was delivered from the newly opened Sticks’n’Sushi in Wimbledon and was absolutely divine (even the Japanese mum said it was some of the best she had had in London) and also sandwiches from good old Pret.
I really hope this was one of many events like this. Such a good bunch of people and Victoria from Mums on the Go had put in a huge amount of effort to make this a brilliant event – and she raised over £450 for Kids Company. Well done!
