Boggio Studios supports Borne

Mark Johnson Borne Charity

Every so often in life you meet a group of people that leave you truly humbled. One such group are the devoted, caring team behind Borne – a collaboration between Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity and the team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Borne’s goal is to prevent disability and death in childbirth and create lifelong health for mothers and babies. If you’ve spent any time on my mummy blog, I Carried A Watermelon, you’ll quickly see that our family is so very important to us. Our daughter is a precious little miracle that we thought would not be possible and after spending a few moments with Professor Mark Johnson, who told us of the one million babies that die every year from birth complications, we knew that we had to support such a worthy cause.

Three very close members of our family had to go through the utterly tragic situation of losing their babies at full term, two of them over 35 years ago and the other only very recently. I can’t imagine what that must have been like and the thought of losing our daughter before she had even a chance of life is unbearable.

The amazing team at Borne are devoting their lives to researching how to prevent families from having to go through this, preventing premature births, heart disease in pregnancy and cerebral palsy. But it’s not just about preventing birth and pregnancy defects, they want to help educate maternity teams from less privileged countries all over the world.

We had the huge privilege of supporting Borne’s fundraising morning recently at Harvey Nichols supported by Coutts bank and we were delighted to hear that they raised over £25,000.

We will be supporting Borne for a very long time and will be helping to raise awareness for this worthy cause with some very exciting projects next year. We’ll keep you up to date and in the meantime please do help them achieve the £1.9M that they need to support their research over the next 3 years. They’re currently at £1.55m, so let’s help them get there quickly!
